Semesters and credits are the very essence of the NRU university system.
An academic year is divided into two semesters, the fall semester and the spring semester.
There is also a "spring semester extended to the summer".
The academic calendar is published from year to year on which it is possible to check the deadlines for enrollment in the semesters (normally six months before for organizational reasons); the starting dates of each semester and the dates for taking the exams.
The credits to be acquired are the very essence of a course of study at the NRU.
Each program has its own value in credits , these can be 3, 6, 9, 12, 14, etc. Each credit represents a unit of time, i.e. 1 credit corresponds to 25 hours of activities (study, research, classroom attendance, workshops, tutorials etc.). Based on this scheme a 3-credits program should engage the student for at least 75 hours . Some important programs in terms of credits (eg programs of 6 credits or more) can be divided into several parts, so more exams, in any case never less than 3 credits each.
Students from all over the world, are followed in the study by international branches of university, but are registered directly at the NRU USA and will obtain their degree directly from its headquarters in Palm Beach Couty Florida.
NRU Online offers credit-based courses during the fall semester and spring semester and one extended summer session. The courses are completely online; students interact with their Professor / Tutor via e-mail and sometime by discussion forums, compatibly with the possible time zone difference.
Enrollment is possible during any moment of the semester for the courses beginning in the following semester. The student can decide, together with the assigned Professor / Tutor, the number of credits to be achieved in the semester based on the provisions of the academic calendar and the university regulation,in order to obtain the best possible result.
